Great Pyramid of Giza

The tallest structure in Egypt is the Great Pyramid of Giza. The tomb of Pharaoh Khufu was very fancy after many changes. All these changes came from the fact that Khufu changed his mind a LOT. When the plan was first put together it was planned that Khufu was going to do a very simple burial chamber. The final product was a chamber with corbeling ceilings, a step like roof that went slightly in about every 2-5 feet upwards. The pyramid had many unused chambers. Many of the unused chambers were to make sure that the pyramid didn’t collapse on the mummy of Khufu. There was also a Queen’s chamber, that chamber was not even used for holding the queen's mummy, there was a smaller pyramid outside of the large pyramid to house her mummy. The last chamber was underground level, it was probably what was going to be the pharaoh’s chamber. This structure is a sky scraping height of 481 feet tall. The total area the square base covers is a staggering 571,536 cubic ft! The way this pyramid was able to be perfect is that it is 51 degrees on each side. The pyramid has two air shafts and a few passage ways with stairs. The entrance is 15 feet off of ground level. Pharaoh Khufu died in 2567 BCE and we have not figured out where his mummy was buried.
